"What a spooky song for Yuletide!"

Rasputina, purveyor of strange and historical modern Victorian show-tunes, has released a typically cello-creaky/creepy version of God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen.

If that's not enough, Melora has another Christmas song for you!

"Cult of the Virgin touches on born-again virginity, but at it's core it examines some of the misconceptions around immaculate conception, and I know whereof I speak."

"it examines some of the misconceptions around immaculate conception"

Including the one about "Immaculate Conception" referring to the virgin birth of Jesus?

No, alas, it seems to continue to propagate that one. You'd think if you cared enough to write a song about it you'd care enough to do at least a little quick Googling.

Is that a timpani miked extra close or something? Whatever it is, it sounds great.

Well, I learned something new today. To save those of you in the same boat an extra click over to wikipedia:
The Immaculate Conception is a dogma of the Catholic Church maintaining that from the moment when she was conceived in the womb, the Blessed Virgin Mary was kept free of original sin.
[...]
The doctrine of the immaculate conception of Mary concerns her mother's conception of her, not Mary's conception of Jesus (the virgin birth of Jesus) nor the perpetual virginity of Mary.

Lined up in my queue for checking out. I'm glad they chose God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, because it's one of the few carols that doesn't seize my little grinchy heart with feelings more associated with parking at the mall on December 24 than peace on earth and goodwill toward men.
