Sitting On Knees

Once the boys are clearly college-age, it looks to me like the Santas start getting sort of in to it. Like, after a long day of dealing with little kids, two adult dudes is a refreshing change.

Needs more screaming... Nope there it is.

And boy, are Santa's knees tired!

I enjoy the end when they present their children to be blessed by Santa The White, Lord Of Winter.

Glad to see Brother 2 finally locked in the facial hair.

That's what I love about these high school girls Santa, man. I get older, they He stays the same age.

Yeah that bowl cut is hideous, and I'm comfortable with the fact that I had one during the same era.

Some of those Santas are imposters.

Goes from standard Christmasy to a bit creepy to utterly awesome

Thank you Martin, both for these Holiday photos and also for reminding me that I'm not the only one with the "on again off again" weight loss/gain (something I've been down about recently.)

Considering I currently most resemble 2007, it gives me hope (you look very comfortable and nice in the last photo).

I guess I'll be picking up those salad tongs again soon!

Well... certainly right after Christmas, buuut... then there's the New Year. So I'll do it in January! But... of course... then there's Valentine's Day, what with all that chocolate, so Mid-March it is!!! (oh wait, Easter Candy...). OK, ok, ok. May it is, oh... wait. May is my birthday month and.... ahhhh, fuck it. I'm just going to go watch Inception.

I'd like to have heard some of the conversations with the Santas when they aged past the traditionally acceptable age to sit on Santa's knee; "Honest, this is a thing we do every year. No, don't call security..."

I absolutely love these, and am curious what kept them going through the teens.

I love that they are clearly super totally hilariously into it even during the awkward teenage years when the average kid that age hates literally everything and everyone.

One of them seems not to have aged or bought any new clothes in 15 years.

And I bet he hasn't shaved for several hundred at least.

This one is my favorite because of the bizarre juxtaposition of Hawaiian shirts and Santaland, plus the way Santa appears to be blessing those penguins. It's the only one that would still be hilarious without the context.

Penguins are from the South Pole. THAT IS THE ANTI-SANTA.

THAT IS THE ANTI-SANTA.

You can tell by the "OH OH OH" birthmark on his scalp.

Is it just me, or are these kids HUGE? They both get too big to sit on Santa's lap very quickly. Or maybe the local area Santas are just super petite? I've never seen a four year old who looked too big for the Santaland environment, before.

I'm pretty sure I had one of those crunchy nylon jogging jackets in 1989, too.

That final Santa in the last two pictures is some kind of glorious, Hogwarts-wizard-level Santa. I want to get a picture with him!

This is unbelievably cute, though as a fellow awkward looking teen I gotta say that 1997 was not a good year for these dudes. (It was a lousy year for me and my cuteness, too.)

I was all "striped shirt... striped shirt... another striped shirt... jeez, decades of striped shirts... hey, BRONCO JERSEYS!"

That one Santa looked a lot like Dan Akroyd.

Let these Santa photographers go forward with my personal blessing, for what it's worth. Let the photographs continue until the boys, and their children after them, are aged Santas themselves! A council of Santas! Even better, until the Santa in the center reminds them all of their lost youth, pink and full of vigour, while the withered old men stoop beside him, their frail husks of children struggling to smile for the camera through wispy white strands of hair.

I liked this way more than I thought I would. Looks like the older one hit a HUGE growth spurt around 1992.
