Strewth! It's bloody Christmas? Stone the flamin' crows, why would you be a Darth Drongo and watch The Star Wars Holiday Special when you can crack a coldie and watch the 30-minute fan filmStar Wars Down Under? (Trailer) (Website)

Bonus: Today Tonight "news" story on this Queensland production.

I can't watch 30 minutes of it. I skipped through and watched segments, I admit. I'm sorry, it was shittier than the latest Hobbit movie. Stroin Star Wars sucks, moit! Thanks for sharing, though. The production values were pretty good.

Huh, I thought it was awesome, much better than the last 3 SW films.

I watched the entire thing, but since I apparently don't understand Australian English at all, I spent most of the time just being awed that a bunch of fanboys pulled off that kind of effects quality on their home computers for a lark. I was almost afraid to read the FAQ and have my impressed-ness spoiled by finding out they were actually all movie effects people, but no, apparently it was all consumer-grade software except for the mo-cap suit they borrowed from a buddy.

Well done, strange unintelligible foreign-speaking fanboys; well done.

You have to watch with captions turned on, that's half the fun, they are well done.

May the Fosters be with you.

I thought the gags and accents were less funny that the OP, but yeah, those are very good FX for a fan film, like, someone's going to get a job somewhere from this kinda good.

The Ned Kelly armor is too funny.

The dialect is amazing.
Nobody in Australia speaks like this anymore, if they ever did, but it's note perfect cliche after cliche.

They even had bloody snags on the robo-barbie. Too right!

The trailer was enough for me. I also marveled at the amazing FX - and wished it had been put to better use. I mean, seriously, that one joke wears pretty thin pretty quick.

I am unhappy because someone took something I loved and shat on it.

Fortunately, you hit back by favouriting your own post — the Force is strong in this one!

The paint job on the ute-speeder makes it for me.

Wow, talk about cultural cringe. One flamin' 30 minute long joke, which was already done to death in the 80s. Strewth!

But yeah, the effects are very good for amateurs.
