Every year, women come from all over North America to prove themselves in Alaska's wildest competition
The Wilderness Woman Contest is put on by the Talkeetna Bachelor Society, part of their fundraiser for Women and Children in Crisis.

On the one hand, have fun doing your wacky wilderness competition!
On the other hand, the whole "to prove your wifely worth to the men of Alaska" thing kinda... weirds me out.
Did anybody manage to catch a man (other than that five time winner) by doing either this or the auction? I guess in the past it's worked, I just wondered about the original poster.
(btw, can't get the first two blog links to work.)
