His cat was named Muffy and he always got the job done.

Owner and operator of Arbie’s Team Transport and star of A&E's Shipping Wars, Roy Garber, passed away on Friday January 17, 2014, after suffering a massive heart attack.

P.S. His much loved feline road companion, Muffy, is to live with Roy's mother in New Hampshire.

He was 49? That was a hard half-century he must have lived.

"Nickel's holdin' up a dollar!" has been in my lexicon ever since I first heard him say it.

Oh, that's too bad.

Shipping Wars is my favorite of the various ___ Wars series. Trucking really wears on the body and Roy usually looked like he had blood pressure that was way too high.

I keep thinking back to the episode where he went to his son's high school graduation. I don't think that kid would even be 21 yet. Damn.

This will probably be the point at which I stop watching Shipping Wars. Roy was abrasive but, to me, ultimately fair. It seemed like the producers concentrated less on his shipping jobs because they ultimately went right and settled more for having him throw barbs from the sidelines because, well, he could be a better jerk on-camera. Jared is either financed by someone or is nowhere near as incompetent as he seems (probably the latter), the couple are just annoying, and Mark's only real perk is that he is home-based out of Seattle.

49 is way too young.

I do enjoy the show and enjoyed being irritated at Roy. But also commiserating when he got a client who wanted to share their life story with him. I may be more diplomatic, but, YES, let me do my damn job and get out of here! So he did his job on the show well!

RIP, way too young.

I can't find the link right now, but I ran across a message board for shipping pros where they discussed the show. There was a particular shipment that made Jared look especially incompetent, with the customer leaving a zero or one star feedback. But the actual UShip site showed 4 or 5 stars. So it certainly seems his character on the show may not reflect reality. No surprise.

I only watched a few episodes of that show, but I loved how much he loved his cat.

Jared definitely plays a role on the show, in the same way Roy did. For all that he might have been portrayed as critical of Jennifer, they worked together and were friends.

Oddly, this is pretty much the one type of "Wars" show I enjoy because it seems every other involves someone's misfortune, be it being unable to pay for X, Y, or Z, and losing it to random bidders. The whole thing is flipped on its head in Shipping Wars, where customers, allegedly, choose the shipper they want based on competing bids.

Roy was splendid to watch on two levels. First, his professional approach to shipping whatever he had. He knew how to pack it and how to move it, and did it virtually flawlessly. The dude knew his craft. Second, his personality, real or played up, which made him one of the stand outs on the show. Watching Roy was always entertaining. And yah, man, he loved his cat.

Sorry to hear about this. The last time I watched I told my husband that Roy looked like he was having heart problems. My husband thinks I am freaky but the symptoms aren't that hard to see once you know those. Loved his nickel for a dollar phrase. May he rest in peace and his family find comfort.
