How Metafilter ruined my life...

Well, not really, but this article illustrates an opinion about the comfort, advice and security one can get from online communities vs. human connections. Be them dating sites, social media sites or this fab unique community we know as Metafilter. An entity for one's social life to be kept at arms length. Would like to know about your personal experiences and thoughts on this phenomenon. I often would come to read ASK ME questions and posted anonymously in the human relations category on the site and found that after a while it was clouding my own feelings and intuition because I was in a vulnerable place at the time. Not looking for the good or the bad, but the middle ground of how our new forms of communication have changed human interactions and the willingness to build intimate relationships in real life.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, Mefi posts really need to not have this personal-blog-flavored "here's what I'm thinking, discuss" framing. -- cortex

Do you want to talk about it?
