"It's the bitches that'll gitchyas..."
Did you know that in the grand tradition of William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and David Hasselhoff, Joe Pesci released an album of explicit rap songs (including [RealMedia] Track #2: Wise Guy, source of the lyrics quoted above) as his My Cousin Vinnie character Vincent LaGuardia Gambini? Got a favorite obscure album by an actor cum singer? No J-Lo, please.

Oops. Link to the audio track won't actually play. Just select track 2 and then download the whole thing off of Kazaa - errr, I mean buy it. Also, should have mentioned that the whole thing is via a friend who was listening to Opie and Anthony yesterday.

How about that indie bastard Vincent Gallo?

In line with Shatner and Nimoy above, Brent Spiner (aka Data) wasn't about to be outdone, and released a disc (laughingly) called Ol' Yellow Eyes is Back.

Sorry for the double-post above, btw.

Did anyone else hear selections from Billy Bob Thornton's album Private Radio on Fresh Air yesterday?

There's always Bruce Willis. He's supposedly going to be at the Earthlink Live in Atlanta sometime soon.

I don't see it ever getting any better than Heartbeat.

That man has soul, goddamnit.
Raw soul.

People, how can we forget the penultimate lyrical genius known as Eddie Murphy?

My girl wants to
Party all the time
Party all the time
Party all the time

Anthony Stewart Head's album is coming out this February, but on line pre-orders have already been sent out (and received). Lovely voice, appealing melodies, the music & production is a bit derivative, lyrics perhaps a tad too vaguely personal to have real resonance. I'm nevertheless enjoying it. (Tony Head is 'Giles' in Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

"She's like the wind......"

Feel her breath on my face
Her body close to me
Can't look in her eyes
She's out of my league
Just a fool to believe
I have anything she needs
She's like the wind

Oh, that Patrick Swayze. chills, I tell ya. Chills down my spine.

We got a right to pick a little fight--Bonanza! Bonanza!
If anyone fights any one of us
He's gotta fight with me!

lyrics to the television show "Bonanza", sung by the cast at the end, and only aired on the pilot.
Gotta love that.
You're singin' it, aren't ya....

And we can't forget Keanu Reeves with Dogstar and Russell Crowe with 30 Odd-Foot of Grunts.

He's no actor, but if you want to see a true soon-to-be-classic, you have to check out Harvard Professor Cornel West's rap album. Listen to a sample of the chart-topping Elevate Your View. (this is the guy in the news for sparring with university president Larry Summers)

How can you people forget Gary Busey doing the music for that Buddy Holly documentary he was in? And Steve Martin sort of counts now, too, seeing that he's in a folky thing now, playing a banjo and all. (Also, there was Dennis Quaid at one point or another, as well as perhaps a countless amount of others I'm forgetting. I used to be good with this sort of trivia.)

I've enjoyed what little I've heard of Johnny Depp's collaboration with Gibby Haynes in P.

Crispin Glover (Marty McFly's dad in "Back to the Future") released a bizarro album called "The Big Problem Does Not Equal the Solution", including a weird rendition of "These Boots are Made for Walking", and a warped classic, "Clowny Clown Clown."

I don't see it ever getting any better than Heartbeat.

The other guy from "Miami Vice," Phillip (or Philip) Michael Thomas, cut himself an album, too. His line "I believe in me" was much quoted in the parody commercial that someone made.

I think one of the worst is Danny Aiello's follow up to Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach", called "Papa Just Wants the Best for You".

I like Anthony Michael Hall's stuff, too, but I can't tell if that's ironic appreciation or not.

The Hulk Hogan album is something... special. Not only does he sing on it, he wrote most of the music as well (with Jimmy Hart, the Mouth of the South).

If Keanu makes the list (he doesn't sing, does he?), then we can toss Woody Allen in as well.

My favorite is Chunky A, the alternative persona of Arsenio Hall. This link has a picture of the album, lyrics and some commentary. Scroll all the way to the bottom. I can't believe this was ever made.

Pudders, I heard Billy Bob on Fresh Air yesterday too, and dear God, it was painful. A song about how you hear voices all the time? Does he need that kind of publicity, honestly?

I love when the mobster in Ghostdog raps PE's Cold lampin with Flavor! It drove people crazy on my voicemail for months, heh. Gotta get Pesci!

Yeah, Billy Bob didn't need to bring up the blood thing either...
