Did you know that in the grand tradition of William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy and David Hasselhoff, Joe Pesci released an album of explicit rap songs (including [RealMedia] Track #2: Wise Guy, source of the lyrics quoted above) as his My Cousin Vinnie character Vincent LaGuardia Gambini? Got a favorite obscure album by an actor cum singer? No J-Lo, please.

Anthony Stewart Head's album is coming out this February, but on line pre-orders have already been sent out (and received). Lovely voice, appealing melodies, the music & production is a bit derivative, lyrics perhaps a tad too vaguely personal to have real resonance. I'm nevertheless enjoying it. (Tony Head is 'Giles' in Buffy the Vampire Slayer)

How can you people forget Gary Busey doing the music for that Buddy Holly documentary he was in? And Steve Martin sort of counts now, too, seeing that he's in a folky thing now, playing a banjo and all. (Also, there was Dennis Quaid at one point or another, as well as perhaps a countless amount of others I'm forgetting. I used to be good with this sort of trivia.)

I don't see it ever getting any better than Heartbeat. The other guy from "Miami Vice," Phillip (or Philip) Michael Thomas, cut himself an album, too. His line "I believe in me" was much quoted in the parody commercial that someone made.

I think one of the worst is Danny Aiello's follow up to Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach", called "Papa Just Wants the Best for You". I like Anthony Michael Hall's stuff, too, but I can't tell if that's ironic appreciation or not.
