There was always something touchingly sad about Skeletor. If any super-villain practiced daily affirmations in the mirror, it was him.

I just realized how weird it is that Skeletor is able to have facial expressions without the benefit of facial muscles. Or lips. Or eyebrows.

I never bought the official story. Skeletor ... Castle Greyskull. He-Man doesn't fit. Pretty clear he's the usurper who has denied Skeletor his rightful home.

Go for it, Skeletor, I believe in you!

And where does Skeletor live? Snake Mountain. Clearly stolen from Cobra Commander.

Naw, sublease until he can get back on his feet. Cobra Commander only uses it for ski getaways (not to be confused with getaway skiis.)

He-Man is sexist. I prefer Pronoun-Person, and his trusty friends Battle Quadruped and Human-at-Limbs.

Snarf! Snarf-snarf! Oh wait, wrong thing.

Scooby-dooby-roo! No, that's not it.

Fuck it, I like Bugs Bunny.

The edit window has passed, but I wanted to let you now you left out an 'e' there.

Hee-hee Man is sexist too. Always sniggering about things quietly. I prefer Ha-Ha Girl.

I'm not sure I appreciate some of the skullist comments in this thread.

That's right pick it to pieces, dorks ruin everything. It's a cartoon. And we are appreciating the farcical nature of a cartoon providing self-serious daily affirmations.

Is it really that hard?

This thread made me stop and google the question "why was skeletor evil." I was surprised this did not auto-complete.

I lost several IQ points, but I did not find a satisfactory answer. The best I could do was a backstory they retconned after we were all kids. Apparently he used to be named Keldor, and to have an actual face, of the vaguely handsome villain variety. He started an acid battle with his half-brother and lost, and in order to save his life he swore allegiance to the evil Hordak, who stripped away the rest of his skull flesh and . . . skim, click, let's see . . . he might also secretly be He-Man's uncle? Well, I have to give it credit, that is the kind of backstory that children would come up with when they play.

I have no idea what you are offended about here.

not offended. Just annoyed that we cannot accept the humor in something without parsing the technical arcana that only geeks care about (and which is not funny thereby derailing what i think is the point of Skeletor's Daily Affirmations).

This is good. I'm reminded of my favorite Tom Gauld cartoon, "Some Advice on How to Cope in These Tough Times."

Colonel Panic, it was obviously a joke.

Maybe read some more affirmations or something?

Really. This:
I never bought the official story. Skeletor ... Castle Greyskull. He-Man doesn't fit. Pretty clear he's the usurper who has denied Skeletor his rightful home.
...is obviously a joke. Rationalising the clearly ridiculous premises and elements of 80's cartoons (in particular) has a long and storied history, and can be comedic in itself.

No one is rejecting the humour in the affirmations stuff.

Ol' GrinFace himself has some sage advice for this situation.

[And here's one that applies to me in particular].

Hold on a minute there, Stinkor.

This IS geek humor. You are a trespasser amusing yourself with that which is ours. We don't mind, but the price for intruding where you do not belong are deeper in-jokes, usually based around points of nerd contention. The awesome part is the idly nostalgic quickly find they have Opinions on He-Man, too. Suck it up and take in the fan-wikis if you wanna keep pace.

I'm good enough. I'm strong enough. And gosh darn, people fear me.

Is it ok with the group if I consume, enjoy, and distribute these affirmations completely and wholly without irony?

Like for reals?

Perfect Soundtrack: Master of the Universe yt

I was just reading about them the other day.

Clearly He-Man needs to be added to this list.

If he has flesh and muscles everywhere but his head, where does the meat stop - his shoulders? The top of his neck, so it looks like he's wearing a meat sweater?

That's why Skeletor wears that sassy hood and cowl combo -- it ties the whole enchilada together

I think the answer was, no you can't. The in-nerds require irony to feel whole.

Um... the only person in this whole thread telling people what they can and can't do (or what they they are allowed to find funny) is you, Colonel Panic.

Sorry, The World Famous, I just can't take that kind of direction seriously unless it is superimposed over an 80's cartoon still.

I NEED THE IRONY TO LIVE. Or something.

I'm totally following this Tumblr. Skeletor's optimistic outlook on life is good for my soul.
