Al Gore invented the Internet, so that one day we could have the glory that is the mashup of Daft Punk's Random Access Memories and Strongbad's Fhqwhgads. via A.V. Club (SLYT)

I can die happy now.

(my iPod has both RAM and the mp3 of the Strong Bad Techno. Excuse me while I go have a personal lightswitch rave.)

I like Daft Punk. I like Strong Bad an unreasonable amount. But whoever made this, I'm not buying them a pizza.

This is a link to the best part, Get Lucky To The Limit, which has been in my iTunes rotation for quite some time (embarrassingly enough). But don't take my word for it that it's the best part. Ask your friend Joe. Ask your friend Jake. Go on, I'll wait to see what they say.

(The best part is the helmet/wrestling mask mashup, however.)

Did you link to the end of the album on purpose?

I used to know a young woman who would come over to my apartment have beers and watch Strongbad and Red vs. Blue videos.

Fhqwhgads was a particular favorite.

I married this woman.

How come I keep thinking of strongbad lately? It's been 7 years since i enjoyed him. Now I find myself humming the songs and quoting the lines. what is up with that?

I do enjoy the slight "Emperor's New Clothes" thing going on, in which the remixer points out that all the tracks have so much in common that the same stuff can be mashed over the top and it works so surprisingly well for all of them!

(I can't call what I'm having here a "lightswitch rave", due to using professional equipment and a DMX control interface to turn the lights on and off.)

Al Gore invented the Internet

...and today is his 66th birthday (THAT's an accurate statement) and this is an appropriate present for him (no NOT an accurate statement).

Really, it's kind of amazing that Homestar Runner, despite not being updated since 2010. Parts of it have seeped into the fabric of the internet -- you still occasionally see someone say MY HEAD ASPLODE. Here's one of my favorite bits of Runnerana (Flash). (Some more? Their video for TMBG's Experimental Film. Also, one of the Johns voiced the Poopsmith [!] for Strong Bad Email 200.)

The Brothers Chaps have gone on to work on Yo Gabba Gabba and the AMAZINGLY UNDERRATED Aquabats Super Show (which I may like even more than Pony).

Yeah, what - is up, - my doge!? What pop-culture meme is reminding me Strong Bad lately?

Yeah, there's definitely something subtly Strong Bad in the air lately because I've been seeing a little resurgence of references all over the place. Maybe Ermahgerd got Coach Z's voice stuck in the back of everyone's mind.

Something reminded me of the brothers Chaps the other day -- I think it is in the air somehow -- and I ended up spending a while in the Strong Bad email archives. I had nearly forgotten how much I adore Strong Sad.

Once in a while I go back to homestarrunner.net (it's dot com!) to check if there are updates. Usually on Halloween and Decemberween. But there aren't.

Speaking of the ongoing cultural influence of H*R, I finally got around to seeing the Lego Movie last week. Am I alone in thinking that Will Arnett's portrayal of Lego Batman had a palpably Strongbadian quality to it, particularly his metal song?

Population Tire has been a favorite of my head. And I've had to explain to my gf who homesar is. It's definitely in the air.

You are not alone. I noted the resemblance enough that I showed my kids a few Teen Girl Squads when we got home.

So did anyone actually go to homestarrunner.com today? Because unless I am very much mistaken, that front page is new. (hrwiki.org doesn't have it, anyway.)

Damn work computer has shitty speakers, though, so I can't tell what's going on.

My daughters thought the same thing; they said that song reminded them of something Strong Bad would do.

It does now.

At some point they also added a COPPA-compatible legal page. Scroll all the way to the bottom for a special message from Homestar.

Coincidentally I have an hour-long meeting coming up and a lock on my office door. I think I just found my April Fools Day prank for 2014 especially the part where his voice breaks like Christopher Walken's, just before the end.

That fig leaf Homestar is wearing somehow feels disturbingly R-rated. I don't know if I can show that to my kids or not.

Can we talk about how amazingly underrated Aquabats Super Show is? I'll start. It's really rad and amazingly underrated. Chapman in episode 12 with the strongbad mask and cobraman is awesome.
