Iggy Azalea channels Alicia Silverstone in a Clueless homage Australian Rapper Iggy Azalea [previously] channels Alicia Silverstone in this homage to Amy Heckerling's 90s Emma remake Clueless This video (along with the cinematic BOUNCE) appears to have catapulted Iggy into the mainstream in a big way.

What other Rapper is "coming up" or at least is just sort of Making it? Hopsin comes to mind as someone who is just sort of edging into the national scene (even while being fabulously popular in some circles already)

"Why should I listen to you, anyway? You're a virgin who can't drive rap!"

@Rangeboy that brought a very large smile to my face.

On a side note, I showed the movie in question to my Daughter just so that we could watch "Fancy" and she would get the reference. I hadn't expected it; but she LOVED Clueless. It was a great bonding moment for us.

I've heard the song a bunch before, but had no idea what the video looked like, I'm impressed at how far they took the movie homage and ran with it. Must have been expensive for the record company to go all out on this for a non-mainstream name, no?

Having Charli XCX in it too certainly doesn't hurt the ability to hit mainstream listeners/viewers.

Great track.

She's perhaps much bigger outside of the US? Definitely a big enough name in the UK for justifying the spend on the video.

It's 2014. Why are we still rhyming "crazy" with "Swayze"?

It's catchy, the production is pretty good. Tho her affected accent when she is rapping does nothing to differentiate her from her peers. She's certainly no Lady Sovereign, who doesn't get nearly the recognition she deserves.

What's the deal with the accent?

Is that a deliberate style choice, or is sort of a subconscious carry over from listening to American rap?

It's a little weird when it slips on the occasional word.

Man, "Clueless" revivals are huge this year. We just saw the Peaches Christ-helmed drag reproduction at the Castro Theater in San Francisco (promo video).

What's the deal with the accent?

She came up in Atlanta via TI so she raps with a southern twang.

My knowledge of rap is severely limited. Is her ability to rap particularly good or groundbreaking outside of the fact that she is a hot blonde?

It is a cute homage to Clueless, but I have no idea if her performance is really any good. It is catchy, but pop generally is.

After reading her wiki page, her stage name is literally her "porn name"(childhood pet and childhood street)?

Kinda both. Also she's from down under.
