Gonzo ... Judas Iscariot

Oh my goodness, this really is the voices of Muppets doing "Jesus Christ Superstar." I thought it was just an arch joke!

So…just in time for Easter? I probably shouldn't play this for my guests on Sunday (assuming anyone still wants to come to The Flu House to eat ham and do an egg hunt).

I so want there to be a muppet movie version of Jesus Christ Superstar now!

No. Stop. Don't.

The voices aren't quite right. Much like the Calvin & Hobbes "animation" a few threads back, this is falling into uncanny valley Muppet territory.

On the one hand, I want to like this because I love these two things, on the other hand hearing even a Kermit imitator sing "just watch me die!" isn't doing it for me.

It seems to me a strange thing. Mystifying. That a frog like Kermit, would waste his time on a Muppet so porcine.

I think it's great; the only issue I have with it is that Judas should have a big voice, and Gonzo doesn't work in that role.

Some of this works nicely, Pepe's Dream, Simon Zealotes, and Herod's Song are all fun. But yeah, would enjoy it much more with some real punch from Kermit and Gonzo.

Beaker at the start of Simon Zealots. Yes.

But Gonzo sounds like my bad Durante impression.

Surely this should be, per Glen Weldon's description on a Pop Culture Happy Hour podcast from three (!) years ago, entitled: Jesus Christ Superfrog

Beaker at the start of Simon Zealots. Yes.

I am at home with the flu, and laughing is the most painful thing I can do. I know I shouldn't be listening to these, but the agony of my enjoyment seems somehow apropos during Holy Week, so…let's hear it, Beaker!

Haha, this completely made my day. Thank you!

I support any Muppet-themed enterprise that includes Rowlf, even though his Rowlf voice is almost as bad as mine.

How many takes are there where he used the actual JCS character names instead of the Muppet substitutions? My brain is doing this constantly while listening to this!

This is so awesome! My parents played the JCSS LPs every Holy Week/Easter to the point where the entire album is burned into my brain. I can't believe this exists.
