Their heavy emphasis on trips to Cuba seems to indicate where their spot on the political spectrum is. Cuba--Island of World Champions!

Or it could indicate that it's the closest country that's been abused by the USA over the years. Much cheaper than flying off to Timbuktu.

The Independent was refreshingly honest: radical human rights group Global Exchange. Most US media simply say "human rights group", a problem that Andrew Sullivan has been harping on.

Way back when, P. J. O'Rourke wrote a hilarious article for Harper's about taking a "Peace Cruise" down the Volga in the early '80s with people like this. I think the title was "Fellow Travellers". Sadly, a brief trip through Google isn't turning it up.

I'm sure these people mean well, and doubtless a trip to Haiti or Vietnam would be eye-opening to a lot of Americans. I'm just bemused at the heavy emphasis on Cuba--seems like a real red-diaper-baby kind of thing.
