World's Scariest Satanists. Self described German satanist-vampires kill a person, various animals to fulfill their blood-lust. I don't think there's a political answer to this sort of bizarre behavior, but at least in America they would face the death penalty.

No trolling intended, but these people admitted to their crime (there is no doubt about their guilt), and by their statements they seem utterly incorrigible, I don't think any prison term or government rehabilitation program would help them. Instead, these severely violent misanthropes will be sitting in jail possibly the rest of their lives, being fed and cared for by the government.

I'd really like to give them death penalty, but I don't believe it's the best thing to do; that's because there is still too much room for judgment errors and because nobody can give back life to an innocent that was killed. Obviously they're NOT innocent, but if some innocent can be erroneously sentenced to capital penalty , that's enough of a good reason to suppress it.

I'd rather have them imprisoned for the rest of their life, in strict isolation ; which means no human contact, no tv, no radio, no nothing..only food, air and medical assistance. Now every human being is scared by death but I think that isolation is worse then death.

I suggest you rent a copy of the movie "Papillon" which gives a pretty good idea of the meaning of isolation in a prison : trust me, one would rather die then suffer that treatment. It scares the hell out of anybody.

Shoot, I say put them in solitary confinement. BUT the prison clothes they'd wear are pink. The cell is a brightly lit, soft, baby blue, padded cell with little white fluffy clouds painted on the ceiling. There should also be a nice gentle twinkling music playing with the occasional laughter of playing children mixed in. Also, their diet would consist of marshmallows and cotton candy - with the occasional glazed donught. Of course their guards would be some of the prettiest people with very large, white toothy smiles.

That would teach them.

They wouldn't get capital punishment. They'd get therapy and be released in seven years, but not before winning a big cash settlement from the victim's family because of some disease they contracted after eating the victim.

I have a few friends going over to east Germany over the summer for an extended stay and now they're scared, my day is complete. They knew that it was a "rough neighborhood" but the 6,000 Satanists number makes them feel uncomfortable to say the least.

Anyone go to that part of Germany lately? Is it a post-apocolyptic industrial wasteland?

I have it on good authority that it is. A friend of mine just recently did an Eastern European tour. Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, and (the former) East Germany.

I have never seen a man so grateful for hot running water in my life.

He did say that there were scads of good deals on used Trabants, so they've got that going for them. Which is nice.

Being a Satanist isn't the problem here, having a mental disorder is. I know a couple of Satanists who are really nice people, and some who are kinda strange. It all depends on whether you believe it because it makes sense, you want to annoy Christians, or because you think that being a Satanist gives you a free ride to do anything you want.

If you read some books like the "Satanist's Bible," from what I can remember, it does say do no harm, although if someone harms you, harm them back. "Do not unto others, unless they do unto you first."

Most so-called Satanists don't worship or even believe in Satan, it's just weird athiestic/philosophy thing...

Obviously, some take it too far, way too far, like the Norwegians mentioned by skwm.

And can you prove that those two had a mental disorder? It sounds like they very much knew what they were doing, and why. I would contend that it was pure, unmitigated evil, not insanity, that contributed to their actions. (unmitigated meaning no traditional societal constraints, etc)

Allow me to pick some nits here. You're saying that the reason they did this (it may be classic tabloid bullshit, they still did it) is evilness. What do you mean when you use that word, evil? Is it a metaphysical presence in the part of their mental makeup that makes decisions? Is it actually a word for "morally flawed", or for "insane", or for "stupid"? Where would the flaw in their morality be located? Is that a neurochemical thing, or genetical, or spiritual? Apart from the fact that proving their insanity is quite unfeasible on the basis of the data we have here, I'd say anybody who thinks that doing stuff like this is "okay", "a good thing", "let's just do it" is utterly mad. But that's not a good reason to kill them. Madder people have been cured. Not that that is an obligation to do so.

Lovely pictures of the two though. Not at all trying to provoke a specific reaction in the reading public, I'm sure.

Death penalty?

In America, you wouldn't actually need to submit these freaks to state-sanctioned capital punishment if that seems unpalatable. Believe me, once they got inside and the other cons found out their rep, they'd be taken care of, quietly, in the shower, with a piece of concrete-sharpened metal scrap. They'd be lucky to last a week among the general population.

You know, the notion of satan existed before Anton Lavey came along (he just thought it would be fun to freak people out by starting a church that proclaimed itself satanic). I think these guys are thinking pure evil, hellfire, devil-worship, not anton Lavey.

As for rehabilition, that's a very nice thought, but these kids are seriously screwed up.

They'll be split up in prison though, which is a start anyway, and they'll have a long time, plus they seem like they want attention and drama, so they might convert to heavy duty religion and seek forgiveness a la Karla faye Tucker...

jpoulos : I'm not suggesting that everyone should be sent to guyana-like prisons , but what would you do to them ? I wouldn't kill them , I'd love to rehabilitate them , but without making them addicted to some weird mental drug : that'd be even WORSE then isolation because such drugs take your will out of you, making you more like a vegetable then a human being. What would you do ?

That said, I honestly can't stand these self-proclaimed 'satanists', they look more like pathetic attention seekers (even more so in some other pictures of them in the press). I'd love to lock them in a room with CS Lewis and watch them stagger out, mind in shreds. Not that I'm anti-satanist, though. It just seems that a true theology is the last thing on these people's minds.

A friend of mine just recently did an Eastern European tour. Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, and (the former) East Germany.

I have never seen a man so grateful for hot running water in my life.

I can't speak for Romania and Bulgaria, but I spent three weeks in Slovenia, Hungary and the Czech Republic. They were beautiful, the food was always good, and I was never without hot running water. (Okay, the Hostel Raketa in Prague was a horror, but whaddaya want for $10/day? We fled after one night and got ourselves a lovely little self-catered apartment for $20.)

also, insomnyuk, as i understand the definition of insanity, it means "cannot distinguish right from wrong." the term has no meaning whatsoever outside of a courtroom, but it would almost certainly keep them from getting the death penalty here.

chuq, my friend was doing a "hitchhiking tour", so I doubt he had ten dollars a day. He's the kind of person who sees that as a great adventure, whereas I see it as a form of punishment.

I did talk this morning with another friend who served a mission for the Mormon church in Bulgaria, and he assured me that it's not as bad as friend #1 made it sound.
