This is a Trigger Warning (tw:rape)

It feels weird to admit this: I was reading the article and despite the title of it, despite the trigger warning, it sorta just crept right up to me and hit me right in the fucking face. Somehow, I guess I didn't expect it to be about my particular trigger or that it would remind me of my trauma, and, well, it did. Which is why I added the little tw disclaimer in the FPP. Don't know if that'll help, but shit, I wish I had known. Fuck.

Every university that I know of has an equivalent of a disabilities and accommodations office that will work with students and professors to take care of the author's "invisible disabilities" problem. If the author is not willing to pursue that process, the author should not be surprised when their disability is not taken care of.

I have a deep aversion against mortification of the flesh, such that merely watching the trailer for The Human Centipede, as stupid as it was, very nearly incapacitated me for several days. I don't expect a trigger warning for my terror because it's pretty rare for someone to respond the way I do. But rape is not rare. And warning people about what they're going to read isn't censorship. It's consideration.
