Every year students at Madonna University's Sign Language Studies program create ASL music videos of popular songs, incorporating elements of ASL poetry and storytelling. Each video comes with a comprehensive guide explaining the translations and artistic choices behind each line of the video. Some examples: Pompeii by Bastille, Four Women by Nina Simone, and of course Bohemian Rhapsody.

Rhapsody is so interesting. They harmonize, have distinct voices, and sign for interesting musical events that clearly illuminate the lyrics. Cool. I don't know if there are specialized terms for any of those things when it's ASL, but it's the first time I've gotten to see them and understand the dynamic of what was occurring. I wonder how I should take their level of ability in poetic/lyric ASL.

I had a year of ASL in school, and that BR vid was about my speed after the year.

Conversation in deaf culture was so fast with the signs, however, I was always lost.

Nice to see it slowed to the point I could grok....
