Wow, this is amazing. As a rather nihilistic existentialist with a lot of cheer and joy about life, I might have just found my anthem.

My first introduction to Carly Rae Jepsen was via Kyle Kingsbury's series of articles analyzing the architectures of distributed systems, Jepsen, which is really a masterpiece that anyone working in cloud computing should read. I'm glad to see that her contributions to academic discourse didn't stop there.

When people who do things like this say they "no life", I want to just correct them that actually they "know life" -- where "life" is like the best possible version of what you can be doing with your time on this earth.

I lost it at "One part suicidal / Three parts anti-Bible". More pop songs should get a nihilist treatment.

I laughed repeatedly enough that the spouse put down his iPad and looked over. That must count as a victory.

"You go to pop parodies? Don't forget the whip." Had to self-flagellate to curb the laughter.
