It's good to see that in the footsteps of the Utz girl and the Bratz, they're carrying on the great American tradition of female noselessness.

The male minifigs typically don't have noses either.

I seriously love that each one has a distinct "uh-oh" face. Science!

Most minifigs don't have noses. Since...well ever.

eh, Lego minifigs have never had noses.

Lego minifigs have never had noses, male or female.

I like how the chemist looks kind of annoyed. I have a female friend who is a chemist, so I can perfectly imagine the grumbling about the labmate who hid the only properly working bunsen burner AGAIN.

I like the checkerboard tile floor on the last one. And the way that the lab equipment seems overwhelmingly large, clearly to represent its psychological weight. I think I may get a set of these for the office. (I am not a scientist, but lord knows I work with scientists. Most of them wear outfits that do scream "scientist", though - invest in no-name polo shirt producers now if we're looking at a researcher boom. And Tevas, even though one is not supposed to wear open-toed shoes in the lab.)

Well maybe they started the tradition

Those aren't uh-oh faces. Those are variations of GODDAMMIT, EXCEL! face.

I see LEGO likes to use bricks that are extant
They give you a telescope made from a sextant

This is so great. A friend posted this on facebook several weeks ago when the press releases came out, but it's awesome to see this with so much detail. I love the swappable facial expressions.

I had Lego Basic with these figures when I was a kid and never really got involved with the minifigs or purpose-intended sets, but these three here have a real Playmobil feel to them.

I had a lot of Playmobil pieces and loved them all to death, so it's possible I'm remembering them in a kinder light, but it seems to me that they were always pretty good on the gender equality thing. The women never looked terribly fussy, and I know I got a female doctor in my hospital set because she singlehandedly saved the lives of all of the rest of my people several times over.

Anyway, this is cool and I'm glad they've made them and if someone would like to get me the dinosaur one that would be awesome thanks.

So how do they smell?

Pretty good, at least when they're new, they've got that "new plastic" smell.

I'm proud of Lego for providing such a positive toy for noseless kids of all genders.

And Tevas, even though one is not supposed to wear open-toed shoes in the lab.

What is it with this? Everyone i know/have met over a certain age, who works in a technical STEM field at a higher level does this. The electrical/mechanical engineer at my work always wears the sandal-crocs even when it's like fucking 38 degrees outside.

I suspect that the only way to make Tevas cool is to make them verboten.
