It's Sunday, and maybe you've got nothing better to do than lie in bed and play A Game About Squares.

Is this a game about squares?

Thank you for this (I think).

It's not the first puzzle game to teach you the rules through clever puzzle design. But it's a very good example of one.

That's cute. Got to level 12 before I started to feel that little switch in the back of my brain start to wiggle. You know the one, the one that, if it gets flipped, means it will suddenly be Wednesday and I won't have showered or eaten and I will be fired from my job all because of a game.

So yeah, cute concept. Have to walk away from it now.

Thanks for posting!

Stuck on 15. It took me a while to get the hang and then I loved it, until level 15 screwed me over.

I'm on level 17 right now, after a long time getting stuck on either 15 or 16.

So far my favorite character is the square.

Level 19. Love the reset button

So far my favorite character is the square.

I thought the rhombus put in a solid performance.

I like the little triangle...
posted by marienbad at 11:07 AM on July 27, 2014

I found the triangle to be a bit of a shifty character exerting too much influence on the square and his direction in life.

zomg, level 21. My eyes! The goggles do nothing!

This feels a hell of a lot like debugging code. I like.

I am stepping away from my tablet, this had the potential to rob me of hours.

Yeah, I'm stuck on 21. So much for the rest of this afternoon.

It took me a couple of minutes to figure out that you have to end up on the dot - the square doesn't consume the dot like [Ms] Pac-Man. Yes I am old.

I thought that too at first, but then I noticed the way that the circle has the triangle wrapped around its finger. The triangle isn't blameless, to be sure, but you can see where they get it.

OK, level 23 is when it starts to get "interesting"

Can someone just tell me how many moves it takes to beat level four; I think I'll be able to figure it out then. Yes, I'm stuck on level four.

beerbajay is right, level 29 is nausea inducing.

I cannot figure out #33. It seems like you have to have a block able to get to its dot by its own power for this to work, and there's no way for any block to do that.

Out of battery at level 27. Fun puzzle though. Thanks, egypturnash. I'll be back to finish it.

on 33: you need to move all three blocks into their final position at the same time.

I was stuck on Level 15 for a loooong time; then came back from lunch and solved it almost immediately. It helped to think of the two squares as processing through the loop together rather than separately.

I just can't see how that's possible. Every position where a square is next to its dot, and with the right direction of arrow, is a position it has to be pushed out of circulation and into. Something always has to do the pushing!
posted by kafziel at 2:45 PM on July 27, 2014

One box will not have the "right" direction of arrow.

After having this tab open for more than a week and fiddling periodically I finally finished all 35 levels. If you keep clicking through the many, many comments that come after the final level you end up at a clickable list of levels that lets you replay them one at a time.

Thank you insoluble uncertainty! I am stuck on level 34 and considered bagging it as there did not seem like a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, but you convinced me to go on.
