Dell 505V Printer clicking upon start (technical)

I've been struggling with this for many weeks now. I'm doing some pro bono work for needy families repairing their computers and machines, and the client needs this back by Sunday. I've scoured the web, forums and God knows where else and cannot even find out who made this printer for DELL to begin with, much less a technical manual. Here is a short (about 1.5 minute) video explaining the problem. It happens while (ostensibly) trying to calibrate the scanner upon power up. The spring to the left articulates, but only to loosen the belt. (I think that may be a clue but I'm just not getting it)
