Oh man, this totally made my morning. What a great idea, what great stories, and what awesome illustrations! I hope he releases a book so I can buy it for all my friends' kids.

re: Tomyris
“Nah, dog! If you lose ground to this chick, everyone is gonna mad disrespect you. ‘Sides, you know what chicks are like. Let them up in your pad and soon they’re all rearranging crap and getting their armies to take shit for themselves. Bro up and get in her business! Don’t even tell her you’re crossing the river to her side, dude! Neg that shit! Alpha as fuck!”
Herodotus is the source for this story and if you read Herodotus, there are actually very many female rulers. The speech by Croesus has nothing to do with being disrespected by a woman; the question is whether if they lost on the Persian said of the river, Tomyris would pillage Persia. In general, the story is told better and from a more feminist angle than this...

Also, the reason why the Massagetae were undone by wine at a banquet is that, being nomads, had no exposure to wine (from cultivated berries) but instead smoked massive amounts of pot. Bonfires of pot.
