THIS SLAM OF MINE JAMS WITH A BALLIN' POWER

I hear people complain daily that there just aren't enough mashups of the Space Jam theme song with stuff like video game music or TV show themes. To that I say, I have just the thing for you.

Allow me to be the first to remind everyone, again, that the website for the Space Jam movie remains live on the internet, as if trapped in amber from the days of Web 0.9.

ohhhhhhh I should have included that as a link where it says "Space Jam"

I hope that site never dies. Between Homestar Runner's slow revival and browsing Tilde Club, I'm web nostalgin' something fierce lately.

ORIGIN STORY REVEALED

Though not Space Jam, I've recently come across two mashups that kind of blew me away, and this seems an opportune place to share them.

This is one of those slow burn internet trends that I like to check in with once in a while just to verify that people are inexplicably still doing it.

reddit.com/r/comeonandslam must have something for everyone by now.

I just discovered this in a comment by the person who made the Frozen video, Can't Hold the Slam is legit natural-sounding enough to break into the mainstream and it's a damn shame that it hasn't.

Basket Rim is my favorite. "We always thought alien ballers would come from the stars, but they came from deep beneath the court."

Carry On My Wayward Slam

I first read the title of this post as "This Islam of Mine..." and I was mighty confused by the total lack of reference to The Prophet in the content. Then I went back and reread the title, and got sad that there ISN'T a Space Jamaat.

God damn, it really is. Thank you for this.

But too much remixing and mashing will turn the Space Jam into Space Jelly.

(Now if somebody would just do a mashup with the classic jam commercial from the early Saturday Night Live... it has to be good!)

kafziel: All Star Circulation

That track (Renai Circulation) turns up in some odd places. Here's my favourite: Casbah Circulation.

My favourite amongst the Slams is this, by BotanicSage: Guile's Jam Medley (Quad City DJs vs 'MURICA feat. MrBulbamike & Smooth McGroove). It really does go with everything.

I have to admit that this was way sweeter than I had expected. Must close browser window before all of today's productivity leaks out.

One billion b-balls dribbling simultaneously through the galaxy. One trillion b-balls being slam dunked through a hoop throughout the cosmos. I can feel every single b-ball that has ever existed at my fingertips. I can feel their collective knowledge channeling through my veins. Every jumpshot, every rebound and three-pointer, every layup, dunk and free throw. I AM THERE.

I like that many of these videos, if their backdrops include anyone recognizable at all, it's Charles Barkley and not Jordan, presumably because of Shut Up and Jam Gaiden.

And by many I mean most.

Shut Up and Jam Gaiden theme.

"The r/comeonandslam subreddit has also amassed over 1,100 remixes and mash-ups as of August 3rd, 2012."

And they're still going...

Space Jam mashed up with 'Parity' from Katawa Shoujo

Caution! This is an ear worm.

Previously.

I'm still looking for my Battle with the Four Fiends mix. This is partially because I imagine Golbez and fiends setting up a combination guard, so that while Cecil and Rosa guard, Rydia summons something and gets on it with Kain holding the ball. Then Edge throws the summon up, Rydia casts meteor, Kain jumps, uses the meteor as a stepping stone, and uses the ultimate Leap to try and score the winning shot.

That is the videogame I dreamed of in the Fourth Grade, when I was briefly in love with both Final Fantasy II and basketball. The five-member parties and Jump command probably had something to do with it.

I'm not sure if I realized that Golbez and the Four Fiends would make a squad, also, but I might have. I had a number of different teams worked out.

I really liked Base Wars around then, too. For some reason a menu-based fantasy basketball RPG just pushed all my buttons at the time.

Wow, amazing that this topic already been the subject of an FPP mere months ago.

Because of that, I'd like to shed light on the next hot new cracked-out mashup phenomenon that's sweeping Soundcloud: air horn remixes.
