But who WAS presenting the Nine O'Clock News on 24 November 1995?

Ever wanted to know who was on BBC Radio 1 at 1pm on Sunday 6 February, 1994*? Or what happened in EastEnders on 13 October 1998**? Or who was on the Top of the Pops Christmas special in 1971? Genome can answer that.

The BBC have unhinged their brains and dumped something close to the entire Radio Times listings archive online - 350,000 pages scanned for TV and radio, under the name Genome. It’s fully searchable for every arcane piece of BBC broadcast scheduling trivia you can think of up until 2009.

The listings are based on OCR scans so do have some errors (and the project is looking for people to provide corrections), but it remains a heck of an archive for anyone raised on Auntie who wants to see what was telly on their 8th birthday.

Not to be confused with this (fictional) Radio Times archive.

Lovely stuff.

Also, here's a complete copy of the Radio Times from November 1983, that I've had up on one of my sites for years and it never seemed at all relevant to anything ever until now.

And with this post, my daily recommended allowance of Mungo Jerry is satisfied.

Not so pointless anymore, is it, dng? Actually, your site is amazing. I have been looking for this all my life.

The fpp link is great too, but I wish there were more pictures. The covers they show are really interesting, I want more.

My go-to thing to put into any search function of catalogs or search engines has always been either "Dalek" or "TARDIS" which is pretty hilarious in this context.

As a reference librarian I approve of this. Now if we could only have it for US networks...

Checking the Radio 4 schedule from the day I was born and it is pretty much indistinguishable from today. Reassuring.

Oh, this is a treasure trove for me! Thank you! The schedule did tend to change, so what is this "next stage" of the project, I wonder? Does this Genome thingie replace the Programme Catalogue, which was online for too short a time?
