You didn't mention that he's blind.

I like how B. B. King becomes "Bébé King" in French. And oh my but that little blind Québec boy can play.

The video showing his reaction to learning about the video in the FPP blowing up is worth watching, too (although it's all in French). He talks a bit about the other blues singers he admires and gives a brief tour of his home studio.

Hmmm, looking around on YouTube this obviously blew up huge in Quebec. Here's a video of him appearing on TV in the wake of the video's success. I wonder if he's loving it or feeling a bit trapped by it at this point? You'd think they'd at least let him play a different song.

I have a ten-year old who plays guitar. I… I don't think I am going to show him this video. :7)

I like the way that this boy plays the guitar flipped on its back, though: my son currently has a full-size guitar, and he struggles to hold it. To be honest, it looks like he is wrestling with it as much as playing it! In two weeks he should be getting a smaller guitar, but for now he just wraps himself around the instrument and commences to playing.

Well. That's, uh...yeah, that's pretty good for being 10 years old and blind and all.

Excuse me while I go and sell some guitars...

Yeah, SysRq, I immediately thought of Jeff Healey, too. Also a Canadian so I wondered if the kid (or his guide/teacher) is guided by Healey's manner of playing.

I did, sort of, in the tags, but I was hoping for people to discover that in the post, too.

His technique is impressive, more so because of his tender age. I'm more impressed with the way he seems to have connected with his music on a visceral level. I watched a couple other performances on the tube: anything with strings, and he goes to the heart of it. That sort of performance invites the listener to connect.

Bravo.

Youtube recommended this 9 year old singing opera (on Netherlands Got Talent). Standing ovation (from the judges and everyone else).

That blind boy can play the blues, holy cow.

For French speakers, peut-être.

He's got great time and a sweet voice. In one of the interviews, the first musician he namechecks is Eddie Lang. I like this kid.

He may be a blind 10 year old musical prodigy, but isn't he pushing those excuses a bit too far with his clothing choices?

Eddie Lang, also known as Blind Willie Dunn (1929 recording).

Good to have heroes/inspirations.

That's how it's done. I know because despite a lot of effort I've never even come close to that kind of synthesis of voice and guitar playing the blues. Keith Richards check this kid stat. On the other hand I know a couple with an autistic son this age and I wouldn't take that on no matter what.

Yikes. Having sighted distractions removed from the environment might be a very real thing but dang, this and some of the other jibes seem like too flip. Given the diverse membership here I'd tensed, expecting a member of the visually impaired to have handed it to you.

I like how that kid pitches the song just before he plays it: fellow youth, I am here to blow your minds.
