Reminds me of the old saying, "the best revenge is living well becoming one of the most influential figures in modern art."

I adore Louise Bourgeois.

The story she tells is double-edged: A father who encourages his children to bring something artistic and/or entertaining to the table (song, poetry, etc.) but who embarrasses his daughter with his crass humor.

As someone who aims to embarrass my kids as often as possible, I approve of this movie.

I hope she doesn't peel her orange like this or Metafilter will be in an uproar.

That was about as unnerving as I expected, and I enjoyed it very much.

The tragedy of parenthood - the highway to your child's hell is paved with your own best intentions.

Tangerine: The tangerine (Citrus tangerina) is an orange-colored citrus fruit that is closely related to the mandarin orange (Citrus reticulata).

sorry, had to get that off my chest

...the highway to your child's hell is paved with your own best intentions

Or, in this case, the highway to your child's exceptional achievement is paved by your cruelties and slights, intentional or not.

I loved the particularly French way she related the story, finishing by calling the form of humor "detestable" with a Gallic shrug.

I second GoLikeHellMachine's the adoration of Ms. Bourgeois.
