When a wearable three faced mask was nowhere to be found in Venice for a bad guy in the short film "Strangers" the filmmakers built one themselves and printed it in 3D for a small budget. With 3D printers becoming affordable for the average consumer, imagine what the future holds!?

This year marks the first year that I have created props for plays that I direct with 3D printing. Small things, because it can get expensive for materials, but the possibilities become much wider when you have the ability to just print up something that's in your head.

Erik, you didn't read the guidelines, did you?

For what it's worth, all of us should start adjusting our buying habits to expect a CAD spec to be freely available for devices we own. Having a single plastic part breaking and making a device unusable should be a thing of the past soon, when you or your local hackerspace or repair shop can print a replacement for the piece you need in short order.
