Kanye West + Sam Smith = Golden Mashup

There are many mashups out there, but there is something quite special about this blend of Sam Smith's "I'm Not The Only One" and Kanye West's "Can't Tell Me Nothing" by Carlos Serrano: “Tell Me I’m the Only One”. posted by beisny (5 comments total) 10 users marked this as a favorite

I know mashups have kind of become trite on the Interwebz, but this guy has some incredible talent. He does rely on Kanye vocal tracks a bit, but this really takes some skill and an attenuated ear. Thanks for this.

On the one hand, this isn't really a mashup. It's basically just the vocals from Kanye's track laid over the music from Sam Smith's. (It's possible that he modulated the Kanye vocals a bit, not sure.)

On the other hand, it works really well. I don't think it would have ever occurred to me to combine those two.

I kinda think that mashups where you just drop a rap acapella on another track is kind of too easy.

Here is FKA Twigs covering a different Sam Smith track.
