Anarchic comedy provocateur Chris Morris (The Day Today, Brass Eye, Jam and Four Lions) was recently the subject of a retrospective on BBC's Raw meat Radio

The 3 hour broadcast features material that hasn't been aired since its first broadcast as well as new interviews with Armando Iannucci, Matthew Bannister, Peter Baynham, David Quantick, Paul Garner, Adrian Sutton and Lucian Randall.

For those unfamiliar with Morris' work he has been previously covered on the blue here, here, here and here

Oh god please.

I think this will do the trick. I hope it does. Stupid state government firewalls. The worst.

I've never really liked phone pranks and other similar sort of public-hassling pranks ( I don't have the same squeamishness about his politician and celebrity baiting stuff), but had always thought Chris Morris's ones were largely benign, as usually they were pleasingly surreal rather than mean spirit. But the phone prank in this show, where he sent out some guy with a mobile phone and directed him what to do - which I'd not heard before listening to this retrospective, with the guy hassling a taxi driver - was pretty horrific really.

Which was a shame

Chris Morris is one of the few geniuses the world has left.

"Are the planes sniffing the building?" is one of my favourites, I'm glad they included it.

All the Jam intros, back to back. It's a bit much all at once, but it's a great showcase for his sense of sound design, mixing, and darkly poetic wordplay.

They have been playing the phone pranks on radio 7, and man are they ever unfunny.

The people at Cook'd and Bomb'd deserve a hearty backslap for their work helping to put this together (as well as all their other LULzy stuff). It's really, really well done. So good that not even the presence of the enduringly awful Mary Anne Hobbs can spoil it.

In light of my renewed interest in D&D, I'm thinking of putting together some monster sheets for "Morrisian" creatures. Terrestrial Dolphin. Tunnel Horse. Exploding Tortoise. Mr Lizard (his power is he puts lizards in everything). Those are the only four I remember right now but I'm sure there are others. Know what this means? MORRIS IMMERSION WEEKEND!

turbid dahlia I think Spherical Cow would be much more horrifying than a Gelatinous Cube. And think how much more devious than a Lurker would be Heavy Electricity.

If you're okay with command line tools, get_iplayer is insanely good for this.

(LOOK BBC, I WOULD BUY THE LATER SEASONS OF THE BURKISS WAY IF YOU'D SELL 'EM, I BLAME SOCIETY)
