Katie Queen of Tennessee

This video of The Apache Relay song Katie Queen of Tennessee is great - kids from the Nashville Dance Center dancing their hearts out while the band plays a sweet country song in a 19th-century barn owned by Vince Gill and Amy Grant. And the kids aren't even dancing to the song.

So...

Thanks, I had never heard "Katie Queen of Tennessee" before.. so thanks for that...

I wasn't aware of The Apache Relay, so, thanks for that...

I wasn't aware of the fact that Amy Grant and Vince Gill were married, hmmmm...

The Nashville Dance Center kids were great... thanks again..

Nicely put together FPP...

So.. (again)..

Back in the 70's my son (who is now a major motion picture producer who I won't name to protect him from unwanted internet fame)..was a huge Amy Grant fan... don't ask, I have no clue as to why that was. He learned that Amy Grant was doing a concert in Toledo, Ohio, and convinced me to take him... so, good Dad that I was, I purchased tickets and the family headed for Toledo...

Son was so excited about this, I had to stop along the highway a couple of times on the way for him to purge his stomach... By the time we reached Toledo he was weak, but still excited...

The concert was great, we all enjoyed it and were much more Christian on the way back to Michigan than we were on the way to Ohio...
This has little to do with the FPP but, it's late and I have nothing else to do...

How is this country? There isn't a single mention of a pickup truck in the lyrics.

If the lineup is going to be so different from the recording, why not lampshade it? Sure, no saw or string section on stage, but check the accordion, tuba, and bagpipe they do have!

This may be a stretch, but one of the members of Apache Relay, the fellow playing keyboards stage left, is a childhood friend of my children. His sister and my daughter danced together in companies just like that shown in the video. Like my son, he was dragged to dozens of competitions and recitals and must have seen hundreds of performances just like those depicted. Wouldn't surprise me if the other members of the band didn't have that same experience and if that wasn't the inspiration for the video.

(In the light of day, I suspect my assertion that I saw Amy Grant in the "70s" was about 10 years off... )

I'm just waking up, and I mean this as the highest compliment, but when I first heard the Apache Relay song, I thought it was Grant Lee Buffalo.

Alas, Mighty Joe Moon is one of the lost masterpieces of the 90's.

Bob I'm about the same age as your son I think and I was also obsessed with Amy Grant for very unchristian reasons.
