"Just ignore them and they'll go away... just ignore them and they'll go away..."

That cat has the patience of a saint. Or else it's drugged.

I don't know what the cat's problem is. He's basically living my dream life.

Of course, dogs are ask culture and cats are guess culture.

Wonder what kind of animal that is. It looks just like, yet is clearly not, a cat.

Reggie was a stray cat that joined our family 9 years ago

That explains it: "Ehh, this is still better than livin' on the street."

All. Those. Wagging. Tails!

Great illustrative example of dog vs cat language too -- tails whipping side to side mean very different things. :)

I don't know; that looked a bit more like "oh yes, yes, that's the spot!" than "make it stop, make it stop!" The plaintive mewing actually starts when the puppies back off, and then Reggie walks over and starts rubbing up against a bunch of them. I think Reggie was taking it to be a kind of freeform massage therapy.

The little buff colored one is clearly mad in love with Reggie.

More Reggie demonstrating that it is hard to leap to the stairs when there's a puppy on your tail.

Watch it again. The mewing starts when one of the puppies starts gnawing on his tail.

I love how a lot of the puppies have gotten bored and wandered off towards the end, and then Reggie gets annoyed and gets up and the puppies are all "HE MOVED!" and come swarming back.

I think this cat actually likes puppies. It's like the cat version of masochism.

I kept waiting for Reggie to turn into Neo during the brawl with the hundred Agent Smiths and start flinging startled puppies in all directions; you could tell that he was thinking about that but just couldn't work up the energy to do it.

In the middle bit, when a puppy brings Reggie a leaf? Then forgets he brought the cat a leaf and starts chewing on the cat, yeah...that's just straight up awesome.

Everything about this is straight up awesome! I imagine Reggie thinking "why are there so many puppies? I should do something, but until I understand why there are so many puppies, I'll stay here."

My husband, he speaks for the puppies in the IM he just sent me after I forwarded the link over:

"HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI HI"

Well, he hangs with the puppy momma. So perhaps Reggie thinks they're *his* puppies. He must be fairly bewildered at this development.

This is pretty much identical to the attitudes displayed by our new cat and the dog we've had for 2 years. Unfortunately the dog is 50 lbs at this point, so we're having to keep them closely supervised and separated by a baby gate while they get used to each other. Wish we'd had our dog when he was a little pup so he could be ecstatically excited about a bored cat without risk of actually injuring said cat.
