www.nevergetoveryou Instant musical classic? With lyrics like: "I stayed up all night - Construction web-site - Just click on our fight - And watch me crying" how could you go wrong? Make sure you check out the trippy animated music video. I guess, like Gorillaz, Simon & Milo are "not real", but it looks like they're huge in Canada.

it might be an instant musical classic if the song hadn't come out in late 2000 ...

(prozzak, the group behind this cross-promotional extravaganza, also did the song 'sucks to be you,' which you might have heard in various teen movies. it goes like this:

sucks to be you
i know i know
[groove]
sucks to be you
i know i know
[groove]
etc)

I believe this is the song of which you speak. It's all strange.

And it is all, apparantly, copyright 2002 by Sony Music Entertainment (Canada). Any Canadians have any insight?

Yeah.

They're two guys from a serious rock/soul band from Toronto named the Philosopher Kings (I believe. It's early, and my memory is not working too well before coffee.). The story says that they got tired of trying to make serious music, but wanted to do it under another name, so they formed Prozzak, invented Simon and Milo, hired an animator, and went about creating the poppiest music possible, complete with fake british accent.

They're huge with the teen set here. Or they used to be. Sucks to be You came out a couple of years ago and I haven't heard all that much since...

And they're copyright Sony because that's their record label.

Correct on the Philospher Kings bit. I personally find them pretty cool, though I'm a few years past the teen set.

I like the song on first listen...its got a "Turning Japanese" kind of catchiness. I think after repeated listening it could get pretty annoying.

Sauril, I thought your comment was insightful about the creative process. Good things happen when you lighten up and just have fun. Case in point - Dukes of the Stratosphear (XTC).

On a side note, several of the Philosopher Kings helped produce Nelly Furtado's first LP.

And this is a good thing?

Did I make a value judgement about it by posting that?

yeah, the songs used to be huge. A year ago, www.nevergetoveryou was played incessantly on the radio (i'm in edmonton, alberta, canada). It's catchy, but me and most of the people I know got extremely sick of it.

Prozzak have been going a while. Another similar song is 'Europa' which is quite fun and dancey. 'Stange Disease' sounds just like www.nevergetoveryou. Or if you want something a bit more slower and heartfelt, then 'Anna Lisa'.

I can't understand the Gorillaz comparison. The Gorillaz have produced some good singles and then an album loaded up with dull filler (much like Blur's self-titled album funnily enough).

Sifl & Olly rock!

I'd just like to know why they changed their name (formerly Prozzak, now Simon & Milo) for the US market.
