His son Antoine put on an inspired performance against #1 Kentucky a couple days after his dad suffered the heart attack.

I met Anthony Mason at a charity event. He was really nice to me and my son. Was willing to talk as long as we were. I loved his style of play. He made the NBA, so his talent level was pretty darn high, but his heart, his desire, his intensity is what made him a great player. He was the soul of the 90s Knicks.

Very sad. I lived in NYC in the late 80s/early 90s and was a diehard Knicks fan during that time. They were such a badass team and came so close to the ultimate prize in 1994.

Those Knick teams were famous for their brutal defense and along with Charles Oakley and Patrick Ewing you did *not* want to mess with them. Mason in particular was the dude you wanted in your corner in a playoff game (or a street fight for that matter), and could go toe to toe with the best of them (Scottie Pippen, Hakeem Olajuwon, Vince Carter).

He was built like a linebacker, not your typical basketball player, this makes his death all the more shocking. RIP Anthony, I'm sure you're going to have some sweet pickup games in that great basketball court in the sky .

I always appreciated the way he walked like a kid with big feet who wasn't done growing yet. There was an element of puppy to him.
