Only The Very Best

To commemorate ten years of podcasting, Slate chose 'The Best 25 Podcast Episodes of All Time'. Favorite 'casts such as Memory Palace, Welcome to Night Vale, RadioLab, Serial, and more are featured, but who brought home the #1 spot? Marc Maron's WTF, with an emotional 2010 2-part interview with Louis CK that covered their friendship, fatherhood, and the professional career of one of today's leading edge comics. Maron re-issued it as a single episode (audioNSFW) and spoke to Slate about the interview.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Yeah, this is basically a double as posted, but if you want to rework it a bit tomorrow with the not-double bits as the core of the thing that'd be totally fine. -- cortex

There will not be any controversy or disagreement over this ranked list.

The Maron/CK podcast is really great. I never realized how interesting all the inside baseball stuff behind standup comedy can be. Tangentially, I also really enjoyed Michael Richards' episode on Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, though there's a lot less content there.

By the way, I'd love to know about any other Maron episodes that are particularly good.

Cool! Thanks for the list. Will definitely have to download some of these and check them out. Also, here is a link to a single page of the Slate article (instead of multi-pages).

And here are some single episodes that I love and have listened to multiple times, that I might add to the list:

Radiolab: Limits (super inspiring)
Comedy Bang Bang 136: Holiday Spectacular (appearances by Huell Howser, Bill Cosby Bukowski, Bob Ducca, Chupacabra, others)
The Tobolowsky Files: Conference Hour (beautifully told, wonderful story)

Also, I hope this post stays up because it seems to me to be about great podcasts, of which one has been discussed before.

I'm really surprised which episode of TAL they selected (and that they only selected one).

The Slate 25 best episodes piece is in fact the double, not the WTF podcast.

Oops, you're right. Was just scrolling over the link and saw that the headline was "one of the best interviews you'll hear..."

Delete away!
