Rocket Boy was a short-lived Canadian TV series. Starring Dave Thomas, Ron James, and an assortment of Thomas' SCTV comrades. Sadly, the series is not displayable on the internet.
However, some internet searching did reveal Dave Thomas' demo reel as a director, which, out of context, is amusing.
Also, Dave's brother is Ian.

I remember this show.
There is this great scene where he gets promoted to Rocket Ladd, and a costume change to something like little Lord Fauntleroy. So he asks to be demoted back to Rocket Boy.

A better link for Ian Thomas might be his SCTV appearance. (Keep watching after the song, he appears on Great White North).

For some reason I tried searching for this a while back and was shocked at how little evidence of it I could find online. Totally remember the "Rocket Lad" bit.

Years back I found a site featuring Mr. Pim's costume design. I cannot find it now.

I have no recollection of this show. When's it from, exactly?
So, anyway, the definitive Ian Thomas track is Painted Ladies. Or, at least, it's the one I recognize from having grown up breathing the government-mandated fumes of the early-'70s Canadian soft rock boom, and finally getting around to googling "ooh, feelin' good mama" a short while back. Letting YouTube autoplay from there is just flashback after flashback via songs that were always on the radio. (Andy Kim! The Poppy Family! The Stampeders! Edward Bear! Pagliaro! Fludd! A Foot in Coldwater! ...)
