Veteran Vision Project

Photographer and college student Devin Mitchell has created a stunning photo series called The Veteran Vision Project. The setup is simple. A veteran stands before a mirror, showing two sides of him- or herself, one uniformed, one not. The results are surprising, tragic, sweet, tender, and unexpected. Mitchell's intention was to "give the veterans a voice," noting that a military uniform "can mask the complexity of the men and women who wear it." Mitchell has started a Kickstarter page to raise money to publish a book of the photos. That campaign has already exceeded its goal with 20 days remaining.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Heya, this seems cool, but Kickstarter-type stuff needs to wait until the funding campaign is over before it can go on the front page. Would be totally find to do this over next month. -- cortex
