I thought the internet is just like high school.

Metafilter, of course, was busy helping reshelve books in the school library.

Shouldn't Geocities be a corpse?

Definitely, in that no one but other nerds knows I'm there which is great because then I'll be left alone to read but still be just a little bitter when no one I know is in any of the pictures.

(Sorry, that was in response to Ideefixe.)

Fun, but not as well done as If Google was a Guy. The Vice guy looked exactly what I think Vice would look like.

Guys, guys, Metafilter is all of us--all those kids in the background who didn't have to be in a specific group to be cool, but who each had their own quiet inner life and group of hilarious friends and inside jokes and who also sometimes helped re-shelve books in the school library.

*slow clap*

Not to derail, but if you liked that there's Part 2 and Part 3 (warning: contains Shauna Malwae-Tweep).

The overhead projector's cameo was what made me laugh most.

Google is way too nice in that skit :(

Although, I admit YT's quality has degraded considerably over the years too.

The Internet Party?
posted by Cyclopsis Raptor at 1:56 PM on March 25, 2015

No. Metafilter < Geocities. Duh.

Also, Etsy is selling hand made textbook covers outside in the quad and Pinterest is taking pictures of said book covers while commenting that she could totally do that herself.

Oh woops my link was NSFW and forgot to mark it.

Cyclopsis Raptor: this is the third or fourth in the Internet Party series, really (and is a hell of an impressive one-shot short.)

There are some nice suggestions in the first page of default view of comments, mostly of other websites to include.

And also 5 sea lions.

This video was excellent! Not surprising, given how often Cracked punch above their (relative) comedic weight, but still...

I loved the subtler things as well, like the flyers freakin' everywhere advertising LinkedIn, and the way Reddit was creepily lurking in most of the shots and busy in the background upvoting 8chan's harassment of Kotaku. Pretty spot on, frankly.

Loved it; but I have never thought of Metafilter like highschool, I think because I have always learned so much here - maybe preschool?

(I was going to say Kindergarten but that word doesn't even sound English English, let alone US English - also one other point - wikipedia is now calling it British English, what a croc.)

I'd imagine that Metafilter was a freshman when Geocities was a senior. Now off at college, either undeclared, or maybe at one of those schools that doesn't believe in majors. Fading pictures can still be seen in the band room.

Reminds me of internet commenters in a business meeting. And now I am freaked the fuck out that that is seven years old already.
