I'd say it's the best anime reference in western cartoons since the first episode of Batman Beyond with the Akira bike chase, but the final episodes of Korra were Nausicäa-tastic too.

This actually completely misses the mark for me because the most memorable part of the eva opening was the music for me, and the music in the parody is not quite right or something, idk ... x.x

Personally, the homage to the Cowboy Bebop end credits tickled my funny bone more. I'd really love to know what music they played over it on Regular Show. (Which was, of course, overrun with a damned promo on Cartoon Network.)

Agreed, while the parallels to Evangelion in the animation are obvious, the music seems more generic to me. Gundam?

For me, that crown is still worn by the many many Steven Universe anime references, most especially the Revolutionary Girl Utena one.

man this is pretty cool because it's not exactly shot for shot... so it's more like... spiritual, man...
