You think that's disturbing? Just wait till they find the glass-frog/pig hybrids.

Yeah, but Greg, when this frog gets excited it flails its arms wildly and goes "Yaaaaay!"

It also plays the banjo.

‘[T]he frog has already been named “Diane’s Bare-hearted Glass Frog,”…

Its Kermitisimilitude notwithstanding, that’s a marvellously euphonious name.

Of course they look alike, in the way that Kermit looks like any green frog.

No. There's a big, big Kermity difference here: The eyes. Most other green frogs' eyes aren't white.

Get back to me when this frog begins reporting on fairy tale scandals while wearing an excellently tailored and no-nonsense trenchcoat

If it wasn't for the Disney purchase, an entire generation of kids might know Kermit only as "The 'None of my Business' Frog".

Robin. It looks like Robin, not Kermit.

Gross

You're not supposed to be able to see through skin

That's like the best thing about skin

Yeah, it has the ping pong ball eyes, and the funny shaped pupils, which presumably are intended to evoke nictitating membranes. Since this was a big shock for me to realize a few years ago, I'll also remind people that only the froggier of the muppets have those and everyone else just has dots for pupils.

My Google search history now has "flowers that look like swiper from dora the explorer" so thanks Greg.

you know, why does kermit have that fringe around his neck
i mean, besides the fact it's stylish
It's like some weird skin/clothing combination, and it's sort of freaking me out the more i think about it

Kermit's 13-point fringe represents the original 13 colonies and the secret knowledge that Kermit is the 13th Apostle, here to prepare the world for the end-times.

Because otherwise HE'D BE NAKED! You can't have a naked frog on children's television.

I don't know if it's "canon," but according to some sight gags on The Muppet Show (and maybe some other places too) Kermit's fringe is some kind of collar he wears, it's not part of his body.

LET THE FROG WHO DOESN'T LOOK LIKE KERMIT do his its OWN GOD DAMNED THING already jesus CHRIST why is this making me SO ANGRY

I don't know. Why is it? This cute little frog's Kermit-y-ness is a fun coincidence.

Drivers are statistically far more likely to brake for frogs that look like famous TV characters, so I'm not sure it is just a fun coincidence.
