The title of this collection is wrong. These are dogs at their doggiest.

*sigh* I miss having a dog. My ten-year old is as carefree and happy as these dogs, but he asks to borrow my iPad more than a real dog would.

The cat in that third picture is like, "What did I ever do to deserve this?"

I think that fifth dog accidentally stepped into a matter-transporter with Matthew Lillard.

Pleated-Jeans is my favorite site for aggregation of silly stuff. And if you think this collection isn't fair, it has already done 21 Dogs That Really Deserve an Apology, 20 Dogs That Think They’re People, and most importantly, 28 Cats That Forgot How to Cat.
okay, the "animals that forgot how to be their species" is a recurring theme, but to date, there have been more cats than dogs

that bull terrier in the cat condo. lulz.

There is not much better than bulldogs on the planet. This list is rather lacking in pugs, frenchies, and boxers though.

I never pick on a dog for having its tongue hanging out of its mouth. Our old dachshund lost most of his teeth and couldn't keep his tongue in. And he forgot to dog due to dementia. And I miss him.

Those are some derpy-looking dogs. But it's a very doggie kind of derp. WHO'S A GOOD PUPPY? YOU ARE, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU GOOFBALL DOGGIES!

I always love seeing that last puppy, the one who can't catch, because he looks SO MUCH like my dog as a puppy. He also can't catch. Or rather, he doesn't get that he's supposed to. I've tried to teach him by throwing him popcorn (which he loves), but I wind up feeling bad because it just hits him in the face.

You may loan an iPad to a dog one time. One time.

The "animals that forgot how to be their species" theme is unendingly tiresome, profoundly unenlightened. Why are so many of you bipeds so confident you fully understand any given species in the first place? Sigh.

Never mind that; I'm off to dinner. Tonight, my bipeds are literally giving a rat's @$$!

Some of you aren't really groking the language happening here-- "I forgot how to (noun)" is the kind of semi-disjointed tumblr-speak that "I can't even" and "I forgot how to can" comes from; it's a modern language structure that a lot of people aren't used to seeing. It's a bit like if I sort of stumbled on some stairs because I was very tired and/or overwhelmed and said "I forgot how to stairs", or if I was having a hard time with, like, taxes and said "how do I even adult" or "how do I even adulthood" or "how does adulthood even". The reason "how do I even dog" or "I forgot how to dog" works is because dogs frequently have that kind of expression like they basically had everything they ever knew fall out of their brain and now are going to slide down a hill in slow-mo because how does walkies?

Buzzfeed and buzzfeedesque sites both have people working for them who are familiar with this kind of language and people who are co-opting it somewhat haphazardly. I am sure we will see much more of the second category once the US Presidential election starts to heat up, since demographic pandering is a thing and watching politics fail at it miserably is one of the few joys we millennials will have to take in a cycle that's gonna fuck us over anyway.

One day a monk approached Zhaozhou Congshen and asked, 'Master, has a dog Buddha nature?'

Zhaozhou Congshen said, 'Guy, I don't even dog.'

The monk was then enlightened.
