The beinArt Collective is an international network of highly skilled figurative artists with a shared fascination for surreal and imaginative themes.
There are three pages of artists which all link on to the artists own websites.
There is also a page with links to some interesting magazines, and beinArt has an active FB page
Some pages NSFW and some could induce nightmares.

Oh my, these are so wonderful, I may actually die. And Mark Ryden is on there! I was just thinking about him this weekend at this little local arts thing, where a painter had tried very hard to do the Big-Eye-Girl + Symbolic Animal kinds of paintings, and I kept wanting to take a sharpie and draw little alchemical signals on their foreheads.

I just can't stop scrolling through! My god! So much wonderful horror!

When I was in high school, I was really fond of semi-realistic and photo-realistic art, and everyone I knew who was into art, friends and art teachers alike, everyone, was like "What could possibly be good about photo-realism? If you want a photo, take a photo!", and I had a hard time explaining that what is cool about photo-realistic art is the potential for photo-surrealism, the ability to create things that look real but do not exist. This is like page after page of "Yes, THIS!"

It’s been a few years since I last looked at this site: thanks for the reminder. It’s great to see Laurie Lipton featured prominently: I love her drawings.
