"The concept of anarchism has always appealed to me" says a senior ranking London Police Commissioner on Urban 75 (posting as 'Brian the Commander'). "Say nothing on the web you wouldn't say on the office notice board" runs the popular wisdom, and Scotland Yard is set to call him to heel. But which serves us best - Dixon of Dock Green, slavishly following Police Federation convention, or Descartes of Dock Green, letting it all hang out?

While the risks of such influential people airing their doubts publicly are self evident, I'm reassured to discover we have at least one thoughtful, intelligent person in office. And the case should be fascinating to anyone who, like me, studiously avoids expressing any critical views on the web about their employer...

Interesting commentary. It certainly seems worthwhile to try to build a few bridges to some of the radicalized young folks so that they develop a vision beyond spending their lives getting wasted / acting out. I wish this officer luck with keeping things cool with his department, and getting those more hardened types who spoil any situation off the streets.
