I know the video describes this as "an absurd argument about the definition of a photocopier", but if I remember correctly from when this originally made the rounds, it was a key point in the case whether their method of producing these documents counted as "photocopying" or did not count as such, because that determined whether or not they were permitted to charge for it. So to me it seemed the argument was anything but absurd, and the lawyer was trying to corner the staff member into defining the process as photocopying in order to win the case.
