I saw that he was thirsty.

David Achter de Molen, lead singer of John Coffey, drinks a beer.

An interview with the guy who threw it. The catch from another angle.

This is a quintessential visual example of William S. Burroughs' "Do Easy" concept. On the part of both the thrower and the catcher/drinker. Beautiful.

Yeah, saw that when it was all over Reddit. Then I listened to their music and it turns out they are pretty awesome. (And this really isn't my usual style of music) I love when the Internet delivers.

He certainly handled that better than Smash Mouth did.

It was ... In a previous world, one where we didn't have video everywhere and you tube, this was a moment that a fraction of the crowd saw, a fraction of that noticed and then told their friends about later whenever songs by this band came up. And an anecdote that the singer would have to think about later, going into the future.
But we all got to see it now because we have this new world going on now.

I was impressed by the guy who threw the beer - he fessed up to it knowing it was a silly obnoxious thing to do that turned out alright. I kind of thought - at first, 'what an ass' but by the time he finished his story, it was clear he's just a regular schmoe.

This is one of those things that makes me think, given the scale of geologic time, some epic startling things must have happened at random on Earth that no human witnessed. One time a typhoon picked up six whales and deposited them in a small lake, alive. Once, portions of the Grand Canyon filled with water, the water froze, then receded, and herds of animals crossed the canyon on ice bridges. Once there was an earthquake that caused waves to travel around the globe, meet again on the other side and splash a kilometer high. Things as likely as perfectly catching a beer thrown across a crowd without spilling it.

The bloggers over at Slate.com tried to duplicate this and had a hell of a time.

JoeZydeco, it's probably at least in part due to them being bloggers over at Slate.com.

Why the hell do I not post this stuff when I see it?

(And that is a pretty decent song in the video. Video is also amusing.)
