The Hidden History of Juneteenth

Months after the Civil War was won, stubborn Texan slavers were still terrorizing freemen and trying to hold on to the vestiges of slavery. Especially now, on the 100th anniversary of Juneteenth, it's important to remember that worthwhile social change is an slow, gradual and very painful process. A lesson we as a people need to especially keep in mind today.

This post was deleted for the following reason: This'd be fine as part of post about Juneteenth but on its own it's a little on the thin side for a huge anniversary of something more important. -- cortex
