"Jihad on you, Maine!" Yesterday, Republican Governor of Maine Paul LePage reportedly told a group of high school students that he would “like to shoot” Bangor Daily News political cartoonist George Danby. The cartoonist's son, Nick, was in attendance. It's now been reported that LePage recently said state lawmakers should be “rounded up and executed in the public square.” Perhaps it doesn't help that LePage -- a fervent supporter of charter schools -- is also facing impeachment charges and a private lawsuit, for blackmailing and threatening to cut off the state funding to a private charter school that hired the Democratic Party Speaker as their school president.
