Hello from the Magic Tavern

Hello from the Magic Tavern! A few months ago, Arnie Niekamp fell through a magical dimensional portal behind a Burger King in Chicago and found himself in a strange magical land called “Foon.” He's still somehow getting a weak wi-fi signal from the Burger King and so, as you do, hosts a weekly podcast from the tavern the Vermilion Minotaur, interviewing monsters, wizards, and adventurers.

I went there once and my socks got wet.

Good thing it was a Burger King and not Winkies.

I listened to a handful of these a few weeks ago, and while I generally liked them, I found them to also be very dude-centric.

But how does he recharge his electronic equi... If you're wondering how he eats and breathes and other science facts, just repeat to yourself "It's just a show, I should really just relax ...." Ahh, nice there. I feel better.

I just listened to the first two episodes this morning! An ex of mine was friends with the guy who plays Chunt, and I saw it posted on his Facebook.

I like it a lot so far. It's a lot more organic-seeming than Night Vale, possibly because they're all improv guys.

It's good, but it definitely does have moments of overdudeliness.

(And Episode 10 -- "Homesick" -- is fucking fantastic.)

That's just what happens when you eat the "chicken fries"

I am always excited to check out new comedy/worldbuilding podcasts, thanks!

And I should mention that the Best Thing Ever was just released, Paul F. Thompkins (as HG Wells) interviewing Andy Daly (as L Ron Hubbard). It is incredibly funny.

I was thinking of making an FPP about those L Rob Hubbard interviews. They're the highlight of that great show.

Do the FPP, it is seriously amazing, mostly because both Paul and Andy are masters and also clearly just smart people. Also, isn't PFT retiring Dead Authors?

Just for the record, the strange magical land called “Foon” is not the same as "Foop"... but they are freeway close to each other.

Andy Daly's a comic genius and his L Ron is hilarious, but James Adomian's Walt Whitman is the highlight of that great show.

http://puppies.supplies does appear to be a real domain name, in case anyone's wondering.

Loving these so far. I don't know why but the Open Mic gag in episode six had me in uncontrollable giggles.
