This is fabulous because everything else about MPACT is 100% real.

Holy crap, Bob Seger had a lot of hits. Colbert rattled off like 30 songs, there!

The one thing that strikes me is how conditioned I am to expect a laugh track during the joke sections.

But Colbert is awesome and I am enjoying this.

It is so subtle and that is what makes it work so well.

That was just wonderful.

And now, it's time for my turn.

This Colbert fellow seems to be a fine gent tries very hard and we welcome him to our community, but I wish he would have put up the Monroe Garden Club calendar we submitted over two months ago! Mrs. Hankins said it would be on TV after all.

I was relieved to learn it was Monroe, Michigan, and not Monroe, Louisiana ("One City, One Future"), or Monroe, Georgia, or Monroe, Washington, or Monroe, Ohio, or Monroe, Utah, or Monroe, Indiana, or Monroe, Oregon, or Monroe, North Carolina (whose website Google reports 'may be hacked'), or Monroe, Connecticut, or Monroe, Iowa, or Monroe, Kentucky, or Monroe, Louisiana, or Monroe, Maine, or Monroe, Massachusetts, or Monroe, Nebraska, or Monroe, New Hampshire, or Monroe, Oklahoma, or Monroe, Pennsylvania, or Monroe, South Dakota, or Monroe, Tennessee, or Monroe, Wisconsin, or Monroe Township, New Jersey, or Monroe City, Missouri, or Monroe City, Texas or any of the 6 Monroevilles.

Holy crap, Bob Seger had a lot of hits.
He should've had his own episode of Yacht Rock...

I don't mean to spread rumors, but I heard that this was actually taped on Colbert's new set at the Ed Sullivan Theater (although they're still considering adding a couple more artificial plants).

Reminded me of Fernwood 2Night - in a good way. Whatever happened to Baby Irene?

Also, here's the Yelp review that dates back 15 years.

Double-checking, I see it was only 11 Seger songs listed... but even then, (I think) Colbert didn't get around to We've Got Tonight, Feel Like a Number, Hollywood Nights, Beautiful Loser, Come to Poppa, Rock and Roll Never Forgets, Still the Same... and more. I knew Seger had been popular, but the man had so many hits in the 70s it's a wonder there was room for anybody else on the charts!

Colbert has somehow been looking a little more youthful lately. Did he dye his hair? Has he been doing dermal fillers? Am I just imagining it? It's not like a huge change, but it's like he's turned the clock back 5 years or so. (And Eminem never ages. Maybe he's shared his secret for eternal youth with Colbert?)

I was spitting my O'Douls from laughter at this.

I loved this. I get the sense that it was way too meta for Eminem to get his head around initially. Or that he was doing a great job of acting confused.

You might remember Kaye Lani Rae Rafko from Roger and Me.

I'm pretty sure Eminem was in on the joke. He plays the straight man brilliantly, I've seen it before. It was very "Between Two Ferns".

And it apparently was actually filmed in Monroe, the local news had photos of him and his crew eating at a local bar the night before.

Based on his appearance in The Interview, I can't see any reason to believe that Eminem was not 100% totally in on the joke.

I loved the Yelp bit and the Mac desktop backgrounds circa very early OS X.

> I was relieved to learn it was Monroe, Michigan

He could call it "better Mon-know a Monroe" and do em all.

He must have been in on it, notice how he brings his middle finger towards his thumb to wave at the end.

... It did say copyright The Late Show, so it sounds like it wasn't actually on public access, or something.

Only in Munroe is a real show.

Kayle Lani Rae Rafko was a dream mashup of Joan Callamezzo and beautiful nurse Anne Perkins.

Escape from the Man-Sized Cabinet - a Twine game about Stephen Colbert . I'm not sure if this is strong enough for a FPP or if I just want to use the title "awaken the centaur (euphemism) or awaken the centaur (literal)?"
