What? No Couch Gag?

Remember "Bartkira" (previously here), which adapted the manga Akira into the world of The Simpsons? (Now with a website where you can read the first three volumes) Of course you know Akira was adapted into an anime, and now, so has Bartkira... kind of... at least a shot-for-shot remake of the Akira trailer. (For comparison, the original Akira trailer it's modeled from.)

The evil genius behind animating Bartkira is Kaitlin P. Sullivan, who coordinated with Ryan Humphrey and James Harvey of the manga project, as well as over 30 other animators and creatives. Which is not so much compared to her previous project with 240 other animators, "Moon Animate, Make-Up!" (previously here)

Correction: there is kind of a couch gag...

Of course, the best Akira homage in American animation was the first episode of Batman Beyond and its bike chase with the Jokerz gang.

There's also an auction of Bartkira art for charity on ebay (not sure if that's been announced yet, I got an email as I did a few pages)

But Bart is Tetsuo right? Or Kaneda?

So it's technically Ralphkira.

Milhouse is Tetsuo, which makes much more sense. That trailer was fantastic.

This may be the greatest work of art ever.

OK, well, maybe not, but it's awesome.
