Seriously, don't steal from Rihanna

Someone stole money from Rihanna and she wants it back. Que the orgy of sex, violence and fashion, which you probably shouldn't watch at work, but that's your call.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Hey, sorry, but single link to a music video with a lot of disturbing violence with no real context for discussion except to fight between those who hate it and those who like it isn't really a great post for the site. -- taz

Apparently, Rihanna’s ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ Clip Is Not An Insult To Feminism; It’s A Step Forward . Personally, I find it disturbing, but maybe that's just me.

I love Rihanna so damn much. I've seen a lot of (white) feminist criticism of this video, but none of them have mentioned the huge role race plays in this story.

I've been complaining that this video would benefit from more Mads Mikkelsen looking all battered and bloody, but that's personal taste. And anyway, I have Hannibal for that.

It's just the worst song.

"My brand new foreign car" is such a forced, arrhythmic line that it makes me cringe every time.

I would enjoyed the swapping of genders, i.e. Mads being kidnapped and held for ransom, with maybe Tina Fey as the rich "bitch" but no one talks to me about these things.

But the Mads reveal was the best part, so maybe they know what they're doing.

"Seriously, don't steal from Rihanna"...because she'll kidnap and torture your wife, and murder you.

I don't care what "huge role race plays in this story," it's vile.

Yayo, yayo
Moo-la-lah
Yayo

Yes. Cocaine and money. Amazing.

Bitch better have my money!
Y'all should know me well enough
Bitch better have my money!
Please don't call me on my bluff
Pay me what you owe me
Ballin' bigger than LeBron
Bitch, give me your money
Who y'all think y'all frontin' on?

Wait, did the accountant even steal from her? Or maybe the check is just late.

Like brrap, brrap, brrap
Louis 13 and it's all on me, nigga you just bought a shot
Kamikaze if you think that you gon' knock me off the top
Shit, your wife in the backseat of my brand new foreign car

I guess the last check showed up.

Don't act like you forgot, I call the shots, shots, shots
Like blah, brrap, brrap
Pay me what you owe me, don't act like you forgot

Give me a fucking break.

While I love Mads Mikkelsen, I think this video it really does Hannibal a disservice in referencing his work on that show. Hannibal is surprisingly non sexually exploitative for a show that deals with such dark subject matter. This video on the other hand...not so much.

I also enjoyed Jay Smooth's take on things, as I often do.

I must live a sheltered life, because my reaction to the violence is not pleasant.

I can see how it's an advance for feminism, in almost the same way that having women in the army's front lines is an advance for feminism. But, just like I feel like the invasion of small countries, my overall reaction to the violence is negative, whether it's men doing it or women. I'd rather see equality achieved with more condemnation of men's violence. Instead of "Saw" and "Saw for Women", I'd rather see no Saw at all.

But, again, I'm sure I live a sheltered life, and I know that other people who I like and respect have different opinions.
