Guess which country is emerging as Earth's new company store

Hint: it ain't Ecuador ... Over the last 8 years, China has accounted for over 57% of all foreign investment in Ecuador, 70% in Sierra Leone, 82% in Zimbabwe, 79% in Afghanistan, 93% in North Korea.
Recently returned from living and teaching in Ecuador, I've seen first-hand the power, influence, and effects of Chinese investment. Lots of new roads, bridges, and activity -- and yet one has to wonder about the country's eventual ability to repay those loans or otherwise turn these investments into real financial benefits for the country.
Meanwhile, despite a recent sit-down with El Papa, the tide seems to be turning against Ecuador's president Rafael Correa ... but I think he deserves it.
